Is everyone still here? No hugs?

Iowa Cubs

The Iowa Cubs put out the Sacramento River Cats (Giants), 8-1.

Another good start for Duane Underwood Jr., who gave up a solo home run to Chris Shaw in the second inning and not much else. Underwood went six innings and allowed just one run on four hits. He struck out four and did not walk anyone.

Yes, the River Cats have the second-worst record in the PCL, but who has the worst record?

The team with the worst record in the PCL banged out 13 hits today. Shortstop Ryan Court went 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. Court scored two runs and drove in two.

Center fielder Trey Martin was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored one run and had two RBI.

Third baseman Jason Vosler was 2 for 5 with two runs driven in. He scored once.

Left fielder Chris Coghlan went 2 for 5. He scored two and had one RBI.

First baseman Bijan Rademacher went 2 for 5 with one run scored.

Tennessee Smokies

The Tennessee Smokies were extinguished by the Chattanooga Lookouts (Twins), 3-0.

Starter Duncan Robinson allowed three runs on seven hits over five innings. He walked two and struck out one.

Left fielder Charcer Burks was 2 for 4.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans

Off day.

South Bend Cubs

The South Bend Cubs were shut out by the West Michigan Whitecaps (Tigers), 3-0.

Ryan Lawlor started and took the loss for South Bend. Lawlor allowed three runs on six hits over four innings. He walked two and struck out five.

Right fielder Chris Singleton went 2 for 3. South Bend only managed four hits in this game, all singled.

Eugene Emeralds

The Eugene Emeralds downed the Vancouver Canadians (Blue Jays), 5-3.

Riley Thompson threw the first two innings and allowed two runs on three hits. One of the two runs was unearned. Thompson had neither a strikeout nor a walk.

Faustino Carrera was the piggyback starters and got the win because Thompson didn’t go five, but Carrera earned the win anyway. He gave up one run on four hits on 6+ hits. He struck out three and walked one.

Casey Ryan entered the game in the bottom of the ninth with two on and no outs after an error and a single off of Carrera. He got a double play and a ground out to earn the save. Two batters, three outs.

Grant Fennell hit his first Ems home run and second as a professional with a man on in the second inning. Fennell was 2 for 4 and scored twice.

Shortstop Luis Vazquez went 2 for 4 with a double and one run scored.

Right fielder Jonathan Sierra went 1 for 2 with two walks and one RBI.

AZL Cubs

Cubs 1 were off.

Cubs 2 were suspended in the first inning due to a desert haboob. Every Arizona League game tonight was either postponed or suspended.
