It had been thought that Carl Edwards Jr. needed another rehab outing, but the Cubs apparently think he's ready:
Edwards is back, activated from DL. Maples optioned to Iowa. #Cubs

CJ hasn't pitched (other than his rehab assignment) since May 29, and the Cubs could use his reliable setup arm. Before his injury Edwards posted a 2.88 ERA and 1.200 WHIP in 25 appearances covering 25 innings. He also has struck out 14.4 per nine innings, with a 4.3 per nine walk rate.
I keep thinking Dillon Maples will succeed at the big league level, but then he has a bad outing that blows his numbers up. If he can harness his command and control I still think he can be a good MLB reliever. He'll almost certainly be back.
There's no word on Kris Bryant being activated yet:
#Cubs Bryant to take BP. No other update

And so, we wait. Perhaps tomorrow. One more minor roster move:
#Cubs also activated Zastryzny from DL and he was optioned to Iowa. He pitched in relief Thursday night
