Iowa Cubs
The Iowa Cubs were served up by the New Orleans Baby Cakes (Marlins), 9-2.
Duane Underwood Jr. gave up four runs tonight—one in the first, two in the second and one in the third. His final line was four runs on seven hits over four innings. One of the four runs was unearned. He walked three and struck out three.
Chris Coghlan homered to lead off the game. It was his third of the season. Coghlan was 2 for 4 with a walk.
Second baseman Stephen Bruno went 2 for 5 with a double and one run scored.
Catcher Chris Gimenez went 2 for 4 with a double.
Tennessee Smokies
The Tennessee Smokies burned down the Biloxi Shuckers (Brewers), 7-0.
Keegan Thompson was terrific over six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits. He struck out three and did not walk anyone, although he did hit one batter.
The Smokies scored four runs off a rehabbing Zach Davies, Left fielder Jeffrey Baez went 3 for 4 with a two-run double. He also scored once and stole one base.
First baseman Yasiel Balaguert went 2 for 3 with a walk and one run batted in. Balaguert scored twice.
Myrtle Beach Pelicans
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans were blue after losing to the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Royals), 5-4.
Stater Bryan Hudson went six innings and gave up four runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out one.
Manuel Rondon didn’t pitch poorly, but took the loss when he allowed a run on a single, a stolen base and throwing error and a wild pitch. The final line on Rondon was one unearned run on one hit over two innings. Rondon struck out five and walked on one.
The Pelicans banged out 16 hits tonight but only scored four runs after the team went 2 for 15 with runners in scoring position.
DH Jared Young went 3 for 5 with two RBI. He also stole a base.
Second baseman Yeiler Peguero was 3 for 4 and scored one run.
Center fielder D.J. Wilson was 2 for 5 and scored once.
Left fielder Zach Davis went 2 for 4 with a walk and two runs scored.
Catcher Jhonny Pereda went 2 for 4 with a walk and one RBI.
First baseman Tyler Alamo went 2 for 4.

The South Bend Cubs were sunk by the Lake County Captains (Indians), 9-4.
It was a rough start for Ryan Williams, who was knocked around for eight runs on nine hits over 5.1 innings. Williams walked four and struck out two.
DH Austin Filiere went 3 for 4 with two doubles. He scored one run.
Eugene Emeralds
The Eugene Emeralds were polished off by the Everett AquaSox (Mariners), 7-0.
Eury Ramos pitched the first five innings and surrendered six runs on five hits. One of the six runs was unearned. Ramos walked two and struck out two.
The Ems had two hits tonight.
AZL Cubs
Cubs 1 were beating Padres 2, 9-1 in the 7th.
Cubs 2 won the completion of a suspended game over the Mariners, 6-0.
Cubs 2 were beating the Mariners 5-0 in the fourth inning of game two.
