Honey Butter fried chicken strips

Another Cubs homestand, another chance to sample some of Chicago’s most delicious food at the corner of Sheffield and Addison. Honey Butter Fried Chicken is a new addition to this year’s line up and I promise you’re going to want to make a trip to Wrigley Field to check out this incredible food.

I had a chance to get to the ballpark this weekend to try the fried chicken strips and am looking forward to getting back there tonight to try a few more menu items. The lines weren’t long over an hour before the game, although it was a bit of a challenge to find a free barrel top. I was glad I made the effort. Josh Kulp and Christine Cikowski know how to make fried chicken. They were also on hand this weekend chatting with Cubs fans and making sure their pop-up stand at Wrigley got off to a good start.

These aren’t your childhood chicken nuggets, these are tasty strips of chicken, fried to perfection and dusted with a bit of spice. They are tasty on their own, but be forewarned: you will receive explicit instructions to throw caution to the wind and “put the butter on the bird.” You should absolutely forget everything you know about calories and nutrition for a few minutes, commit yourself to some extra time at the gym and follow these instructions. It turns out honey butter on fried chicken is beyond delicious.

I got there early enough to take advantage of the 10 percent discount up to an hour before the first pitch, so I spent a little over $10 for six delicious pieces of chicken to dip in honey butter (it feels sinful every time I type it). That’s a little pricier than some other options at Wrigley, but it’s absolutely worth it. Here’s the rest of the menu complete with photos and pre-discount prices.

The OG Fried Chicken Sandwich featuring candied jalepeno mayo and crunchy slaw $13.
Pimento mac & cheese featuring Wisconsin cheddar and breadcrumbs $6
Fried chicken nachos featuring fried chicken, pimento cheese, tortilla chips, lime crema, corn pico de gallo, candied jalapenos $11
Cherry hill pop with Maker’s Mark bourbon, lemonade and cherry syrup $15

So get to the ballpark a bit early and enjoy some incredible food. The corner is a nice place to eat, the chicken is decadent and delicious. Plus, every now and again the chefs show up to check in on your experience and make sure things are running smoothly.

Have you tried any of the Honey Butter Fried Chicken dishes that are featured this homestand? If so, share your experience in the comments.
