Each year the Cubs host a social media night that brings fans, bloggers, media and the Cubs staff together. The event includes a pre-game party, prizes, and some giveaways. This year anyone who attended the pre-game event got a dancing bullpen t-shirt, Cubs pop-sockets, as well as a drink ticket for social media themed drinks.

There were a few special guests in and around the event including Doug Glanville and Clark the Cub (who was doing his best Kyle Schwarber impersonation).

The pre-game event included a Q&A session with the Cubs production crew. You know, the incredible people who bring you videos like “Willson Contreras: a candidate who cares,” and “Can Javy tag Javy?” This year I was lucky enough to participate in that panel as a moderator along with bloggers from other local Cubs sites.

The Cubs also hooked all of the moderators up with some sweet Cubs themed Moto-Z3 phones from Motorola to cover the event, and now I definitely want an upgrade for my Moto-G5.

After the Q&A the Cubs auctioned off prizes including bobbleheads, fatheads, and the grand prize, throwing out the first pitch of the game.

The pre-game event was an awesome chance to get to know the people from Cubs Twitter a bit better. It was pretty perfect that it happened to conclude with a critical Cubs win over the Pirates.

If you’re interested in checking out the #CubsSocial Media night next year, keep an eye on their Twitter page during the season. They announce the event in advance and the pre-game party is free for the first 200 people who sign up as long as you already have your ticket.
