Wrigley Field construction update: No work on a -17° Wednesday

New, 67 comments

This is one of the coldest days in Chicago history.

It’s sunny in Chicago today.

And hopefully, you are looking at that sunshine from somewhere warm and indoors. The photo at the top of this post is a screenshot from the Sports World webcam, located outside the store across from Wrigley Field at the corner of Clark & Addison.

No one is working on the 1060 Project at Wrigley Field today, the workers all (hopefully) warm at home. That’s a good call by the Cubs. Many businesses and stores are closed today. All Chicago Public Schools and most suburban schools are closed and the US Postal Service is not delivering mail in most areas of 10 Midwestern states.

Here’s what Lake Michigan looked like on the Chicago shoreline today:

And here’s another view of Wrigley Field, from the webcam at Wrigleyville Sports at the corner of Addison & Sheffield (note the icy bits frozen onto the window in front of the camera):

Stay safe out there if you’re in the Midwest. The good news is that by Sunday temperatures in Chicago might be in the mid 40s.
