The Cubs will be on one of ESPN’s first broadcasts in 2020, per an announcement from the network Thursday.
The Cubs open the 2020 season at Miller Park in Milwaukee against the Brewers and the last game of that series, Sunday, March 29, will be ESPN’s featured Sunday Night Baseball telecast that evening, beginning at 6 p.m. CT.
This has also resulted in a change to game time for the Cubs’ home opener at Wrigley Field the next day, Monday, March 30. That game is also being carried by ESPN, and it will begin at 3:10 p.m. CT (instead of the previously-announced 1:20). That will be helpful for the Cubs coming back from a night game in Milwaukee.
Here is the rest of ESPN’s first-week schedule. The network hasn’t announced any Sunday night broadcasts past March 30, but I would expect that Cubs/Cardinals at Wrigley April 12 , Cubs/Nationals at Washington April 19 and possibly Cubs/Nationals at Wrigley May 10 might be choices for ESPN to carry on Sunday Night Baseball.
As always, we await developments.
