So... we're 2 weeks away from starting the 2020 Music Threads. I'm looking forward to it.
Once we start, we're gonna do this every week on Fridays for 8 weeks. 8 of us will be bringing our own topics to the table during the 8 weeks. I'll be starting us off with week 1, which begins December 27th. Expect me to post it about 7pm that Friday.
I gotta tell ya, that after hearing all of this holiday music for the past couple of months, I'm pretty tired of all of this happy blappy bullcrap music. I'm not starting this off with your favorite happy songs. Unlike the Cubs, I'm going oppo. This will be our lists of sad ass songs. Depressing songs. Songs that make your heart ache. Haunting songs. Songs of sorrow. Songs that will make the hairs on your arms stand straight up. You get the gist of this tone. You smell what I'm steppin' in. When all else fails, look to the blues and country for inspiration.
Please only include up to 10 songs (or should we go up to 12 songs? There seems to be a lot to choose from out there.). Only one song per artist. Sorry to be such a downer, but I'm not a big fan of the holidays.... especially the music. But.... I also find that sad/haunting songs have produced some of the greatest songs ever written.
Bret will be doing Week 2. Towards the end of next week, I think Bret should tell us his theme so we'll have a couple weeks to gather our thoughts for his thread.... and so on.
Happy Friday the 13th everyone!
