SCOTTSDALE, Arizona — The Cubs are facing the Diamondbacks for the second time this week, a fairly rare occurrence for spring training. This time it’s at Arizona’s spring home at Salt River Fields.
Site note: For anyone looking to buy or sell tickets to regular-season games, I have made posts for April and May home games. You can find those near the bottom of the front page under “Chicago Cubs ticket exchanges.”
Here are today’s particulars.
Cubs lineup:
Happ 2B, Bote 3B, Schwarber DH, Caratini C, Russell SS, Adduci 1B, Zagunis RF, Field LF, Marzilli CF
Ian Happ is getting quite a few reps at second base this spring. I suspect we might see a fair amount of him there this season.
Diamondbacks lineup:
Brito RF, Marte CF, Escobar 3B, Peralta LF, Flores 2B, Lamb 1B, Ahmed SS, Avila C, Kelly DH
Jose Quintana will start for the Cubs, thus completing the first round through the expected rotation. Tyler Chatwood will follow Quintana, and also scheduled for the Cubs this afternoon: Carl Edwards Jr. (his first spring outing), Duncan Robinson, Kyle Ryan and Rob Scahill.
Robbie Ray will go for the D-backs.
Today’s game is on cubs.com. There is a TV broadcast available via the D-backs network Fox Sports Arizona, which should be on MLB.tv if you have a subscription.
Please note that during spring training, Gameday doesn’t usually go pitch-by-pitch as it does during the regular season -- usually, it will update after each at-bat.
Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.
Please visit our SB Nation Diamondbacks site AZ Snakepit. If you do go there to interact with D-backs fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.
For spring-training games, we’ll have a first-pitch thread at five minutes to game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time (because I know how you all like overflow threads!). For today, that will be 2 p.m. CT and 3:30 p.m. CT.
These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked ”Chicago Cubs Game Threads” at the bottom of the front page. There will also be a StoryStream on the front page with all the game thread links, as well as the recap after the game is over. The pitcher boxes and regular-season stats will return on Opening Day.
Discuss amongst yourselves.
