This will be the last time these two teams meet until June 18, when they’ll open a two-game series at Wrigley Field. By then, I would expect former Cubs prospect Eloy Jimenez to be in the White Sox lineup.
As is my preference, I’m skipping this game, as I don’t care for Camelback Ranch, either the ballpark, the drive there, or the nasty parking situation, so I’ll watch on TV with all of you.
The weather forecast for this afternoon says it’ll be “breezy.” This time, it’s an east wind instead of south-southwest. With the configuration of Camelback Ranch, that should be blowing in from left field.
Daniel Descalso update:
Descalso said this morning that he's still shut down. Hoping to test left shoulder with some range of motion activities in a couple days, with goal of resuming baseball stuff in near future. Still no timetable for return, though.

With two weeks to go, I’d think he still could be ready for Opening Day. If not, that likely opens a roster spot for Cristhian Adames, at least temporarily.
Here are today’s particulars.
Cubs lineup:
Almora CF, Bote SS, Schwarber LF, Happ 2B, Caratini C, Zagunis RF, Adduci 1B, Adames 3B, Hamels P
Hey, look! A Cubs pitcher will hit today. Look for Cole Hamels to bat once, maybe twice, before he’s taken out of the game.
White Sox lineup:
Garcia RF, Guyer LF, Abreu 1B, McCann C, Alonso DH, Moncada 3B, Anderson SS, Sanchez 2B, Engel CF
That’s not too far from an Opening Day lineup for the Sox.
Cole Hamels will start for the Cubs. Cubs relievers today: Dakota Mekkes, Dillon Maples, Randy Rosario, Junichi Tazawa and Mike Zagurski.
Lucas Giolito goes for the White Sox. Sox relievers: Jace Fry, Dylan Covey, Nate Jones, Ryan Burr, Alex Colome and Evan Marshall.
Today’s game is on WGN-TV with the Sox announcers. Outside the Cubs/White Sox market territory it will be shown on MLB Network. It’s also on 670 The Score.
Please note that during spring training, Gameday doesn’t usually go pitch-by-pitch as it does during the regular season — usually, it will update after each at-bat.
Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.
Please visit our SB Nation White Sox site South Side Sox. If you do go there to interact with White Sox fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.
For spring-training games, we’ll have a first-pitch thread at five minutes to game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time (because I know how you all like overflow threads!). For today, that will be 3 p.m. CT and 4:30 p.m. CT.
These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked ”Chicago Cubs Game Threads” at the bottom of the front page. There will also be a StoryStream on the front page with all the game thread links, as well as the recap after the game is over. The pitcher boxes and regular-season stats will return on Opening Day.
Discuss amongst yourselves.
