Three affiliates lost tonight. The other one was rained out.

Iowa Cubs

Tennessee Smokies

The Tennessee Smokies were overrun by the Jackson Generals (Diamondbacks), 4-3.

Starter Justin Steele saw his record drop to 0-4 when he allowed four runs on seven hits over 3.2 innings. Steele walked one and struck out four.

The Smokies rallied to score two runs in the ninth, but they could not get the tying run any farther than second base. Center fielder Connor Myers doubled home Luis Vazquez with the Smokies second run in the ninth inning and then scored on an RBI pinch-hit single by Charcer Burks. Myers was 2 for 4.

Vazquez went 1 for 3 with a walk.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans were neutered by the Lynchburg Hillcats (Indians), 6-1.

Erling Moreno started and took the loss. Moreno allowed three runs on seven hits over four innings. He walked three and struck out two.

The Pelicans had five hits tonight. DH Tyler Payne went 2 for 3 with two doubles and a walk. He scored the Pelicans lone run.

South Bend Cubs

The South Bend Cubs were burned by the Dayton Dragons (Reds), 4-1.

Riley Thompson started and took the loss. Thompson gave up four runs on six hits over four innings. Two of the hits accounted for all the runs—a solo home run in the first inning and three-run home run in the fourth. Thompson walked two and struck out six.

Third baseman Christopher Morel went 2 for 3 and was hit by a pitch.
