Two weeks ago, I reported to you that the Cubs would take on the Cardinals in London in 2020.
Now, we have learned the specific dates for those games:
The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals are set to play at London next season in a two-game series at West Ham’s Olympic Stadium on June 13 and 14.
St. Louis will be the home team for both games, according to a draft of the 2020 preliminary schedule obtained by The Associated Press.
Chicago will be at Philadelphia from June 8-10, then has a pair of off days. The Cubs will be off June 15 and then start a homestand at Wrigley Field against the New York Mets and Boston Red Sox.
This year, the Red Sox and Yankees are playing in London on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30. The Red Sox are playing a home series against the White Sox that ends Wednesday afternoon, June 26, and the Yankees are hosting the Blue Jays in a series that also ends that afternoon. Their London games are being played at 6:10 p.m. London time (1:10 ET) on June 29 and 3:10 p.m. London time (10:10 a.m. ET) on June 30. Their first games back in North America are on July 2, the Yankees at the Mets and the Red Sox at the Blue Jays. Both London games are Red Sox home games.
You can figure the Cubs and Cardinals will have a similar schedule for the games before the London trip (an afternoon game on June 10), then there will be a night game for the Cubs at Wrigley June 16.
Yankees and Red Sox season-ticket holders got first call on tickets to these games, so it will likely work the same way for Cubs and Cardinals season-ticket holders as well.
And I’m going to start making plans to go to London for these games in 2020. Sounds exciting!
