Ben Zobrist has played six games in the Cubs’ minor-league system this month, trying to get back to the major leagues after being off on personal leave since May 8.
In those six games he’s hit .211/.318/.526 (4-for-19) with two home runs. The process is probably more important than the results.
Monday, the next stop on Ben’s tour was revealed:
Ben Zobrist will join the Iowa Cubs on Thursday in Memphis. He'll be there Thursday to Sunday and then, as has been the case since he started up again, they'll reevaluate on Monday.

Memphis isn’t too far from the Zobrist family home in Nashville. The I-Cubs will play a four-game series in Memphis, though it’s not clear whether Ben will play in all four games. After Iowa’s trip to Memphis, they will have a seven-game homestand in Des Moines from August 19-25.
As has been noted elsewhere, for Zobrist to be eligible for this year’s MLB postseason, he would have to be added back to the 40-man roster by August 31. He could then be activated to the big-league Cubs September 1 when rosters expand.
As always, we await developments.
