Cubs announce 2020 spring training schedule

Time to make your plans for Mesa next year!

Al Yellon

Last week, Major League Baseball, the Cubs and other teams had their earliest-ever release of the following year’s schedule.

With the release of the 2020 spring training schedule in August, that gives you plenty of time to plan a trip to the Valley of the Sun to see the Cubs play spring games next year. Next spring will feature the earliest-ever beginning to the schedule, Saturday, February 22. All told, there will be 17 home games at Sloan Park and 15 away games. The Cubs play their last Cactus League game Monday, March 23 at Sloan Park against the Padres, then will have two days off before opening the 2020 regular season in Milwaukee against the Brewers at Miller Park Thursday, March 26.

In some other recent years the Cubs have not hosted all 14 other Cactus League teams, but they will in 2020, as well as hosting the Padres, Rockies and Diamondbacks twice. They will also play away games against all 14 clubs.

Here, then, is the Cubs’ spring schedule for 2020. Home games in boldface. Unless otherwise indicated, all games are at 2:05 CT through March 7, 3:05 CT from March 8 through the end of the schedule (unless otherwise indicated). I’ll add game times when they are available (all times Central). (ss) indicates a split-squad date.

When broadcast information is available, I’ll post it separately. Though no details have been announced yet, it’s expected that at least all 17 games at Sloan Park will be televised live on the Marquee Network.

Single-game tickets for 2020 spring training games at Sloan Park will go on sale Saturday, January 11. 2020 at 11 a.m. CT at the Sloan Park ticket office in Mesa, on cubs.com or by calling 1-800-THE-CUBS. More information on this as the sale date gets closer. For season ticket and group ticket information please visit sloanpark.com or call 1-800-THE-CUBS.

More information to come on that as the date gets closer.
