August 3rd is the 4th Annual John Baker Day at the G-Man Tavern. It’s an annual celebration of one of the more improbable Cubs victories: the night backup catcher John Baker both pitched a scoreless frame and scored the winning run in the 16th inning to give the 2014 Cubs something to celebrate.
Our very own Danny Rockett has been hard at work organizing the event which will include live music, a Cubs watch party at the GMan Tavern and a special live Cubs podcast that brings together hosts from the many awesome podcasts that cover this team. Full disclosure, I’m pretty excited to represent Bleed Cubbie Blue, and our new podcast Cuppa Cubbie Blue, on this panel. Danny visited our podcast on our 19th episode and you can hear more about this event in his own words here.
The festivities are at the GMan Tavern, 3740 N. Clark St. in Chicago. Events kick off at 1 p.m. and conclude with a Q and A after the game with John Baker himself. Tickets are $30 and the proceeds of the event will support the Chicago Metropolitan Women’s Network.
Even if you can’t join us in person you can participate. There is an online auction with some absolutely incredible Cubs memorabilia. You can check all of that out here: John Baker Day Auction. I’ll also be sharing the live podcast after the event on the Cuppa Cubbie Blue Twitter Account this weekend.
