Cubs/Cardinals games are popular choices for national TV networks. The rivalry always creates good ratings, and especially this year when the teams are competing for the N.L. Central title.

Monday, it was announced that the Thursday, September 19 game vs. the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field, previously listed as 7:05 p.m. CT, has been selected for a national exclusive telecast by Fox-TV and is now scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. CT.

On original schedules, this game was listed as “TBD” for its TV home, and now we know the reason — it was being considered for this Fox-TV slot, and now that slot is official.

This won’t be a big deal, as the game was originally a 7:05 night game; all it means, in practical terms, is that fans going to the game will have to arrive about an hour earlier. It also means people will get home an hour or so earlier, barring extra innings or rain delays. It’s also an extra hour of rest for the players, who will play the next day at 1:20 p.m. CT.

So, mark your calendars with this schedule change.
