Kris Bryant has a sprained ankle

The Cubs star third baseman is down for the count.

Which one of you took the cursed jewel from the head of the Monkey God idol?

In another case of “It’s deja vu all over again,” Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant suffered a sprained ankle when slipping on first base while trying to beat out a double play in the bottom of the third inning in Sunday’s game against the Cardinals.

On a rainy day like this one, something like this is not unexpected.

X-rays on Bryant’s foot were negative, so there is at least that positive. But with the season coming to and end and the Cubs’ playoff hopes fading, Bryant’s return this season has to be questionable.

The Cubs are currently leading the Cardinals 2-1 in the 7th inning of today’s game.
