2020 Cubs Convention Saturday open thread

The Convention will be going on all day Saturday.

ICYMI, Friday night a bit of news was made at the Opening Ceremony of the Cubs Convention as the team’s new TV channel, the Marquee Network, got booed when Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts mentioned it in his opening remarks.

Besides that, Ryan Dempster’s “Off The Mound” show didn’t make any news, unlike last year when Kris Bryant called St. Louis “boring.” Dempster tried to make up for that by saying nice things about the Cardinals. Other than that, his conversations with Tom and Laura Ricketts, Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer, former players Ted Lilly, Reed Johnson and Geovany Soto and current players Anthony Rizzo, Jason Heyward and Kyle Schwarber provided some entertaining moments.

Saturday, two Convention sessions will be live-streamed via Cubs social media channels: The session with David Ross and the coaching staff at 10 a.m. CT, and “Cubs Talk” immediately following at 11 a.m. CT.

I wouldn’t expect any major news to be made in those sessions. There is supposed to be more information revealed about the Marquee Network in a Business Operations Update session Saturday afternoon.

This thread is for discussion all day. BCB’s Sara Sanchez will have more from the Convention later.
