Cubs send out spring training 2021 season ticket invoices

The price has remained basically flat.

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Remember when fans used to be able to go to baseball games? It was just last March at Sloan Park, for Cubs fans, a bit more than six months ago. That seems like years ago, given everything that’s happened in 2020.

The Cubs are making plans for fans to attend games at Sloan Park in Mesa in the spring of 2021. Season-ticket invoices were received Friday, including mine.

For 2020 my tickets, including season parking, cost $812. For 2021 the price is $816. That’s essentially the same price, but the per-game price must be lower, because there are 18 games scheduled for 2021 while there were just 17 in 2020. Individual game prices aren’t noted in the email received, but here are the prices for the full season for various areas in Sloan Park:

The Cubs are giving two payment options:

  • Pay in Full: The first option is to apply payment for your 2021 Spring Training season ticket balance in full by 5 p.m. CST Monday, November 30, 2020.
  • Two-Payment Option: The second option is to submit a non-refundable first payment of 50% of your 2021 Spring Training season ticket balance by 5 p.m. CST Monday, November 30, 2020, with the remaining balance due by 5 p.m. CST Friday, January 8, 2021. If you use “My Cubs Tickets” to submit your non-refundable first payment, the credit card(s) applied will be automatically debited for the remaining season ticket balance Friday, January 8, 2021.

The Cubs also say:

For the 2021 Spring Training season, if games in your season ticket plan are impacted due to COVID-19 (i.e., canceled, postponed or have restricted capacity that prevents the use of your specific seats), you’ll have the option to receive a credit or refund for the impacted games through the Cubs Guarantee.

I’d think that would be pretty obvious, that if you have paid for a game that you can’t attend, that you’d get a refund or credit. But, at least they’ve put that in writing.

Tickets will again be mobile-only, as they were in 2020. The Cubs say single-game tickets for Sloan Park will go on sale in January, but no specific date has yet been set. When that information is available, I’ll post it.
