In all, Marquee will broadcast 28 Cubs spring training games this season, the most spring training games ever aired by a Cubs television partner in franchise history. 670 The Score will carry 10 spring training games, on their main channel in Chicago and to the Chicago Cubs radio network.
Overall, a Cubs game will be available every game day of the spring schedule via one or more broadcast mediums, and 30 of the 34 games are scheduled to be available overall, including a nationally televised game by ESPN on March 2 when the Cubs host the Los Angeles Angels at 2:05 p.m. CT. With the advent of Marquee, there will no longer be a cubs.com webcast of games.
In past years, I have listed the day-by-day schedule and the broadcast outlet for spring games. Some of those were carried by the opponent’s TV channel. Instead, here’s a brief overview of the TV and radio schedule.
Home TV games: all except as noted below
Away TV games: 2/23, 2/24, 2/27, 2/28, 3/3, 3/4, 3/7 (Las Vegas), 3/8 (Las Vegas), 3/10, 3/13, 3/18, 3/22
Radio games: 2/22, 2/28, 3/1, 3/6, 3/7 (Goodyear), 3/14, 3/15, 3/17, 3/21, 3/22
Here is the complete schedule of 2020 spring games I posted here last summer, and here are the games that are NOT being carried by any Cubs outlet (or national TV):
Monday, March 2, split squad at Athletics
Sunday, March 8, split squad vs. Diamondbacks, TV via Fox Sports Arizona
Saturday, March 14, split squad at Angels, radio via KLAA 830
Saturday, March 21, split squad at Athletics
The A’s have not released a spring broadcast schedule yet, if those two games are made available via TV or radio I will post an update.
In past years MLB Network has carried many Cubs games live or on rebroadcasts, and I’ll post that information on the daily game previews when it’s available. Enjoy the Cubs broadcasts this spring!
