ICYMI, today’s Cubs roster cuts are here.

Normally, we don’t have to worry much about this in March in the Phoenix area, but weather could be an issue this week, possibly all the way through Friday. Here’s today’s forecast:

Showers. High near 74. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

And so, you will need to keep this handy this afternoon (just above and a bit to the left of the letter “T” in “Tempe” on this map is where Scottsdale Stadium is):

Here are today’s particulars.

Cubs lineup:

Happ CF, Rizzo 1B, Baez SS, Schwarber LF, Contreras DH, Heyward RF, Caratini C, Bote 3B, Hoerner 2B

In case you’re wondering where Kris Bryant is:

Bryant’s son is due shortly after Opening Day, but the Cubs will play two spring training games in Las Vegas — Bryant’s hometown — on March 7-8. He told [Taylor] McGregor one of Jessica’s last doctor’s appointments is around the same time, so Bryant will get one last visit in before Baby Bryant is born.

KB was granted permission to stay in Las Vegas for this doctor’s appointment today after the Cubs played there over the weekend.

Giants lineup:

Yastrzemski CF, Belt 1B, Posey C, Longoria 3B, Pence RF, Crawford SS, Davis LF, Flores 2B, Cueto P

This is the first time we’ve seen a pitcher in the lineup in a Cubs game this spring, for either team.

Tyler Chatwood will start for the Cubs. Cubs relievers today: Dan Winkler, Rowan Wick, Duane Underwood Jr., Rex Brothers and Dakota Mekkes.

Johnny Cueto will go for the Giants. Giants relievers scheduled: Andrew Suarez, Rico Garcia, Sam Coonrod and Dany Jimenez.

Also of interest (note, time listed is Eastern):

Today’s game is on the Marquee Network. Here is a complete channel guide for all the providers currently signed up with Marquee. Note that it is possible some of these channels might not be up and running right away. This is new to all of us and I would anticipate glitches. Hopefully it all gets squared away by Opening Day, including Marquee deals with Comcast and YouTube TV, among others.

Outside the Cubs market territory this game can be seen on MLB Network.

Radio today: MLB.com webcast with the Giants announcers.

MLB.com Gameday

Please note that during spring training, Gameday doesn’t usually go pitch-by-pitch as it does during the regular season — usually, it will update after each at-bat.

Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.

Please visit our SB Nation Giants site McCovey Chronicles. If you do go there to interact with Giants fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.

For spring-training games, we’ll have a first-pitch thread at five minutes to game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time (because I know how you all like overflow threads!). For today, that will be 3 p.m. CT and 4:30 p.m. CT.

These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked ”Chicago Cubs Game Threads” at the bottom of the front page. There will also be a StoryStream on the front page with all the game thread links, as well as the recap after the game is over. The pitcher boxes and regular-season stats will return on Opening Day.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
