Thursday’s Opening Day. I’m ready for some kinda baseball. How about you?

Here’s the 26-man roster, with player ratings, as supplied by MLB The Show 2020:

  • SP Yu Darvish 82
  • SP Kyle Hendricks 85
  • SP Jon Lester 81
  • SP Jose Quintana 80
  • SP Tyler Chatwood 73
  • RP Alec Mills 77
  • RP Dan Winkler 84
  • RP Kyle Ryan 70
  • RP Jeremy Jeffress 73
  • RP Brad Wieck 68
  • RP Rowan Wick 76
  • RP Ryan Tepera 72
  • CP Craig Kimbrel 82
  • C Willson Contreras 83
  • C Victor Caratini 73
  • 1B Anthony Rizzo 83
  • 2B David Bote 81
  • 2B Jason Kipnis 79
  • 2B Daniel Descalso 67
  • 3B Kris Bryant 92
  • SS Javier Baez 92
  • LF Kyle Schwarber 84
  • CF Ian Happ 73
  • CF Albert Almora Jr. 68
  • RF Jason Heyward 79
  • RF Steven Souza Jr. 71

And the rest of the 40-man roster:

  • SP Jharel Cotton (AAA) 69
  • RP Casey Sadler (AAA) 67
  • SS Nico Hoerner (AAA) 66
  • SP Duncan Robinson (AAA) 63
  • RP Trevor Megill (AAA) 61
  • SS Zack Short (AA) 61
  • 1B Jared Young (AA) 60
  • C Miguel Amaya (AA) 59
  • SP Adbert Alzolay (AAA) 58
  • RP Tyson MIller (AAA) 56
  • SP Justin Steele (AAA) 54
  • RP Dillon Maples (AA) 49
  • RP James Norwood (AA) 47

Some of these ratings seem very low (Norwood and Maples have minimal control numbers) and some of the players aren’t on the right levels or might not even exist, but I’m not going to play with that unless it affects the MLB team. CP Brandon Morrow (81) is not on the 40-man roster and is in Triple-A.

Remember that we’ll have the game thread post a half-hour before starting time, so generally at 2:30 p.m. CT the day of the game. It will contain the lineups, starting pitchers and a link to the YouTube channel. I’ll drop the specific URL to the broadcast in the gamethread post just as it starts. Cub Tracks and Baseball history unpacked will have stats and some game features for those of you who plan to follow along.

I’ll run the sim to the end. In the event that we have actual baseball, I’ll upload the games directly to the YouTube archive, Otherwise games will run according to the 2020 schedule, at 3 p.m. Central time.

Thanks as always for reading. You are why we do this stuff.
