Cubs vs. Diamondbacks at Mesa and vs. Reds at Las Vegas preview, Sunday 3/8, 3:05 CT

Daylight Saving time begins today, almost everywhere in North America except Arizona.

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

In case you have forgotten to set your clocks forward an hour, Daylight Saving time started today in most of the USA and Canada.

Arizona is an exception to that — AZ stays on standard time all year. Thus both games today start at 3:05 p.m. CT. (As do most of the rest of Cubs spring games, with a couple of exceptions.)

Here are the rest of today’s particulars.

Cubs lineup vs. Diamondbacks

Bote 2B, Schwarber LF, Contreras C, Heyward RF, Souza CF, Almora DH, Descalso 3B, Perez 1B, Short SS

Diamondbacks lineup:

Marte CF, Rojas SS, Vogt C, Peralta LF, Lamb 1B, Young 3B, Jay RF, Vargas 2B, Hicks DH

Cubs lineup vs. Reds:

Bryant 3B, Rizzo 1B, Phegley C, Happ CF, Hoerner SS, Kipnis 2B, Cuevas RF, Giambrone DH, Miller LF

Reds lineup:

Winker LF, Moustakas 2B, Ervin CF, Aquino RF, Farmer SS, Payton DH, Colon 1B, Blandino 3B, Pena C

Jose Quintana will start for the Cubs against the Diamondbacks. Cubs relievers in Mesa: Craig Kimbrel, Jeremy Jeffress, Kyle Ryan, Dillon Maples, Danny Hultzen, Brock Stewart and Jason Adam.

It will be the first spring outing for Hultzen.

Jon Duplantier will go for the D-backs. D-backs relievers: Junior Guerra, Mauricio Cabrera, Yoan Lopez and our old pal Edwin Jackson.

Colin Rea will start for the Cubs vs. the Reds. Cubs relievers in Vegas: Trevor Megill, James Norwood, Wyatt Short, Justin Steele and Caleb Simpson.

Vladimir Gutierrez will go for the Reds. Reds relievers: Alex Powers, Jose De Leon, David Carpenter, Matt Bowman, Sal Romano and Tyler Thornburg.

Today’s game in Las Vegas vs. the Reds is on the Marquee Network. Here is a complete channel guide for all the providers currently signed up with Marquee. Note that it is possible some of these channels might not be up and running right away. This is new to all of us and I would anticipate glitches. Hopefully it all gets squared away by Opening Day, including Marquee deals with Comcast and YouTube TV, among others.

No radio/online audio for the Vegas game.

Today’s game in Mesa vs. the D-backs is on ESPN 620 Phoenix with the D-backs announcers. No Cubs radio for the Mesa game and no TV.

MLB.com Gameday for Cubs/Diamondbacks

MLB.com Gameday for Cubs/Reds

Please note that during spring training, Gameday doesn’t usually go pitch-by-pitch as it does during the regular season — usually, it will update after each at-bat.

Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.

Please visit our SB Nation Reds site Red Reporter and Diamondbacks site AZ Snakepit. If you do go there to interact with Reds or D-backs fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.

For spring-training games, we’ll have a first-pitch thread at five minutes to game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time (because I know how you all like overflow threads!). For today, that will be 3 p.m. CT and 4:30 p.m. CT. One set of threads for both games today.

These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked ”Chicago Cubs Game Threads” at the bottom of the front page. There will also be a StoryStream on the front page with all the game thread links, as well as the recap after the game is over. The pitcher boxes and regular-season stats will return on Opening Day.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
