It’s May 14th and there still isn’t baseball, but today I can at least provide some perspective on over 30 years of Cubs Spring Training seasons because yesterday long-time Cubs Spring PA announcer Tim Sheridan joined me for the latest episode of Cuppa Cubbie Blue.
As you can imagine, Tim has some great stories from his time with the Cubs and you’ll want to listen to the whole episode to hear a few gems. But Tim also had the foresight to turn on a video camera years ago and as a result has thousands of hours of Cubs Spring Training footage that he’s shot over the years. He’s released some of that film as part of a web documentary series called “Cubs Talk” that you can find at www.boysofspring.com.
If you haven’t watched Cubs Talk already, now is a great time to get started. It’s a nostalgic and fun look back at what we all are missing more than anything right now: Cubs baseball.
It will surprise no one that one of Tim’s favorite memories is being the first PA announcer in 2017 to introduce “Your World Series Champion Chicago Cubs” but there are more than a few stories about fan favorites like Mark Grace, Ryne Sandberg, Shawon Dunston, Alfonso Soriano and more in this week’s episode. Check it out and be sure to share it with friends who are missing baseball during the COVID-19 pandemic.
