I don’t even know what to say so this entry will be short.

It has been 100 days without baseball and even though the Chicago Lakefront is set to re-open (psst: it was already functionally open) and restaurants are set to re-open indoor dining (an aside, this strikes me as a terrible idea on so many levels) baseball is not close to returning.

I’m sort of stunned. I don’t know what I thought would happen when I started this diary 100 days ago and I said as much. Between the pandemic, the nationwide protests in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death at the hands of the police, and just everyday existence the world feels fundamentally different than it was a week ago, let alone 100 days ago.

The only thing I’m certain of as I type this is that this diary will go at least 101 days. Who knows, it may go much longer.
