Sim JHey homers!
screencap by The Deputy Mayor of Rush Street

Thanks to The Deputy Mayor of Rush Street for our image today.

The simCubs took one from the Yankees, who will be looking for revenge today, pitting Chris Archer, acquired May 19 from the Pirates, against Ryan Yarbrough, who has been just fine since coming over in the Jose Quintana trade. Q has been very good for the Rays also, though he’s lost his last two starts.

In Friday’s game, Kyle Hendricks was excellent as usual, and the bullpen held, as even newcomer Trevor Megill got into the game. Jason Heyward clubbed a memorable home run, his 14th, and the Cubs added insurance later on, letting Craig Simbrel (not a typo) to rest up as Ryan Tepera continued his fine work out of the ‘pen and closed the game out. Giancarlo Stanton pounded a ball into the left field bleachers, but that wasn’t enough offense on a day when the Professor was teaching class.

After the game, seldom-used Johan Camargo was returned to Iowa to work on his stroke, and Steven Souza, Jr., was hurriedly dispatched eastward. Souza will have a chance to show he belongs before finding somewhere else to be before the trade deadline.

We’ll have a surprise for you today, too. Al will have more about the game in the game post at 2:30 p.m. CT, and then I’ll post the actual URL to the stream at 3 p.m. CT. Or you can catch the game at the BCB Media Center and also catch past games and game videos, if you want the full #simCubs experience.

And now, here’s Cub Tracks News and Notes. As always, * means autoplay on, or annoying ads, or both (directions to remove for Firefox and Chrome). {$} means paywall. {$} means limited views. Italics are often used here as sarcasm font.
