Chicago Cubs vs. Minnesota Twins exhibition game preview, Wednesday 7/22, 6:05 CT

One more practice game, then it’s for real.

Unless there’s a miracle announcement of a Comcast/Marquee deal in the next two hours, I’m not going to be able to watch this game.

Thus your recap tomorrow will be from the radio broadcast, Gameday, the boxscore and whatever else I can piece together. For a practice game, this isn’t really a big deal.

But there ought to be some urgency on the part of Comcast, the Cubs and Marquee to get a deal done in the next 48 hours.

Here are today’s particulars.

Cubs lineup:

The Cubs have used three different designated hitters in the three practice games: Jason Kipnis, Kyle Schwarber and David Bote. I would expect them to mix-and-match like this in general during the 60-game season.

Twins lineup:

Jon Lester will start for the Cubs and be piggybacked by Alec Mills.

Homer Bailey will start for the Twins. Now there’s a familiar face to Cubs fans.

Today’s game is on Marquee Sports Network. Here is a complete channel guide for all the providers currently signed up with Marquee.

There will be a radio broadcast on 670 The Score.

MLB.com Gameday if you don’t have access to a broadcast.

Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.

Please visit our SB Nation Twins site Twinkie Town. If you do go there to interact with White Twins fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.

We’re going to use the spring-training game thread procedure for the Cubs’ three exhibition games this week. Thus, we’ll have a first-pitch thread at five minutes to game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time. For today, that will be 6 p.m. CT and 7:30 p.m. CT.

These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked ”Chicago Cubs Game Threads” at the bottom of the front page. There will also be a StoryStream on the front page with all the game thread links, as well as the recap after the game is over. The pitcher boxes and regular-season stats will return on Opening Day.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
