Kris Bryant sprained his left ring finger August 12 in Cleveland making this diving attempt in left field [VIDEO].
To add the proverbial insult to injury, that call was originally ruled a catch, but overturned on review:

Bryant stayed in the game and actually hit a home run in the next inning, but since then he’s gone 2-for-17 (both singles) and clearly was less than 100 percent.
He hasn’t played in the Cubs’ last four games and just before Saturday’s game the team placed him on the injured list retroactive to August 19.
Because the Cubs had hoped Bryant might be able to play without an IL stint, the placement was too late to get anyone from the alternate site in South Bend to Chicago for Saturday night’s game and thus the Cubs will be playing with a 27-man roster against the White Sox.
There will certainly be an addition to the roster before Sunday afternoon’s contest and I’ll post about when it’s known who’s being added.
