Kris Bryant had been on the injured list since August 19 with an injured finger on his left hand.

Today, the Cubs announced Bryant had been activated off the IL. Also activated from the injured list: outfielder Steven Souza Jr.

We don’t have a lineup for today’s game yet, but manager David Ross said earlier on radio that Bryant would be in it.

And, the Cubs’ newest acquisitions: Infielder/outfielder José Martínez, outfielder Cameron Maybin and left-handed pitcher Josh Osich have been added to the active roster.

To make room on the 28-man roster, outfielder Albert Almora Jr. has been optioned to the South Bend Alternate Site; right-handed pitcher Tyler Chatwood has been placed on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to August 31) with a right forearm strain; and right-handed pitcher Casey Sadler has been designated for assignment.

All of the newly-activated players will be available for the Cubs tonight in Pittsburgh.

Uniform numbers for the new players:

Cameron Maybin:15
Josh Osich: 37
Jose Martinez: 53

Also, Andrew Chafin, acquired Monday from the Diamondbacks, will remain on the injured list for now. He’s been given uniform number 39.
