White Sox reliever Jimmy Cordero suspended three games for throwing at Willson Contreras

The little kerfuffle from Friday evening has cost the Sox righthander.

We all saw it, but here it is again [VIDEO].

Willson Contreras was thrown at — clearly deliberately — by White Sox reliever Jimmy Cordero, apparently in retaliation for the home run and bat flip by Willson in the third inning.

Cordero, Sox manager Rick Renteria and Sox pitching coach Don Cooper were all ejected.

Saturday, Major League Baseball announced that Cordero has been suspended for three games and given an undisclosed fine. Renteria has also been suspended for one game and fined, and Cooper was fined.

Managers cannot appeal suspensions, so Renteria will serve his tonight. It hasn’t yet been announced whether Cordero will appeal his suspension, if he doesn’t, it will also be served beginning tonight.

I hope that for the rest of the series, things are a lot calmer and the Cubs can win the ballgame without these sorts of extracurricular activities.

The game preview will post here at 4 p.m. CT.
