To be perfectly honest, I’m amazed that there even IS a postseason. I still think it was a damnfool stunt and an irresponsible use of time and funds to have a season. But it has had all of the action, intrigue, and drama of a full 162-game season, albeit a little temporally compressed, and now this barely-under-control train is roaring toward the postseason with our Cubs aboard.

Us BCB scribes gathered to discuss this and other matters Monday. That roundtable talk will post at 8 a.m. CT. My mind hasn’t changed since then, so that can serve as my official statement. Beyond that, I shan’t extrapolate, in print, in public.

I think a three-game series is dumb. I want five at least, and preferably seven, for any playoff series. But no matter what, I want REVENGE. I have Michael Palin on loop.

Here’s Cub Tracks News and Notes. As always, * means autoplay on, or annoying ads, or both (directions to remove for Firefox and Chrome). {$} means paywall. {$} means limited views. Italics are often used here as sarcasm font.

“This is the hardest baseball season, I think, anybody’s ever really had to go through. Whoever wins the World Series this year should be extremely proud of overcoming adversity, keeping your team healthy through all this, and together.” — David Ross.

“We’re very grateful to be in the playoffs, but our expectation is to win the World Series.” — Anthony Rizzo.

“We don’t want to be known for just breaking the curse.” — Kyle Schwarber.

Two of the three Kyles won Gold Gloves. Kyle Schwarber was the only outfielder with sufficient chances to have a flawless fielding percentage. Kyle Hendricks beat Ryan Yarbrough by two putouts. Patrick Corbin (18-8, 2.91) won the Cy Young.

Willson Contreras (.292, 32, 107), Anthony Rizzo (.267, 42, 97), and Kris Bryant (.306, 41, 105) won Silver Slugger Awards.

The simCubs face the winner of the Milwaukee/Washington Wild Card Game. I’ll post the results and schedule tomorrow. All game video and related material is available commercial-free, 24/7, at the BCB Media Center.

No food for thought today. The above should be enough fodder.
