Aren’t you glad 2020 is over?

Last year’s Happy New Year post was filled with stats from the decade just ended and optimism for the Cubs in 2020 and beyond.

This year? I’m just going to say I’m glad we all made it through 2020, probably the worst year for humankind that any of us has seen in our lifetimes. As always, this annual post goes up at 12 midnight Central time, to celebrate the New Year as it happens in Chicago.

Neither baseball nor anything else was “normal” in 2020, and I am certain all of us are glad to see it in the rear-view mirror.

What 2021 will bring for the Cubs and baseball is still uncertain, and so I won’t speculate about it here. Hopefully, sometime during this year we can all begin to enjoy baseball at the ballpark again. That’s something many of us took for granted before the pandemic. Never again.

What I hope 2021 will bring for you and for everyone on Planet Earth is health, happiness and peace. We certainly all deserve that.
