Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across MLB. Each week, we send out questions to the most plugged in Chicago Cubs fans, and fans across the country. Sign up here to join Reacts.
The start of Spring Training could be nearing, but some of baseball’s biggest names still don’t have contracts. Even as contracts haven’t been signed, it is clear that the same teams are involved in many of these rumored negotiations.
This week SB Nation Reacts asked MLB fans where they think three key free agents will end up. According to those results, 37 percent of fans believe 2020 NL Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer will sign with the Los Angeles Angels.
Here are the other numbers for Bauer: Mets (23%), Blue Jays (18%), Yankees (15%), Giants (7%).
The Mets, Blue Jays and Yankees — along with the Dodgers — are also in the running for infielder DJ LeMahieu. 60 percent of fans believe the former all-star and batting champ will return to the Yankees.
The rest of the LeMahieu numbers: Dodgers (19%), Blue Jays (11%), Mets (9%).
Also on the market is 2017 World Series MVP George Springer. The former Astros outfielder has also been linked to the Mets and Blue Jays, along with the Braves and Astros. According to 37 percent of fans, Springer will sign with the Mets.
Here are the remaining Springer numbers: Blue Jays (25%), Braves (19%), Astros (19%).
As you have no doubt noticed, the Cubs aren’t picked as the landing spot for any of these players. This should not surprise you, given the Cubs’ cost-cutting so far this winter.
