We continue in this winter of collective discontent, bringing you news of the Chicago National League franchise. There isn’t much news, and I’m afraid that none of it is very positive.

Would that it were otherwise, but it just isn’t. A number of narratives remain unresolved: the NL Central seem to have lost their wallets and their competitive desire simultaneously; Kris Bryant and Kyle Hendricks and Willson Contreras are still on the team; and Cooperstown looks much like Cleveland from where I sit, among other things.

Here’s Cub Tracks News and Notes, your every-other-day-except-on-weekends escape from the humdrum. As always, * means autoplay on, or annoying ads, or both (directions to remove for Firefox and Chrome). {$} means paywall. {$} means limited views. Italics are often used on this page as sarcasm font. (In the comments section, use @ before and after your remarks @ to produce sarcasm font. In the text body. It doesn’t work in the headlines.)

Food for Thought:

Thanks for reading.
