Cubs roster move: Tommy Nance to injured list, Joe Biagini recalled

The team has made another unspecified roster move.

The parade of Cubs to the injured list without a specific injury designation continues:

Generally, if such an injured list placement occurs, it is to the COVID-19 list, though no statement to that effect has been made by the Cubs.

Nance finishes his season with a 7.22 ERA and 1.326 WHIP in 27 appearances covering 28x innings. He was a story back in June when he allowed no runs over his first 12 outings, but the remaining 15: 11.64 ERA, 1.731 WHIP, five HR in 17x innings.

Joe Biagini, a righthander, has 221 MLB games (22 starts) with the Blue Jays and Astros from 2016-20. With Triple-A Iowa this year: 5.50 ERA, 1.549 WHIP in 22 appearances (19 starts).

The Cubs now have two players on their active roster — Biagini and Tyler Ladendorf — who have not appeared for them yet this year. If both appear before the season ends, the Cubs will set a new MLB record for most players used in a season, 68. The current record of 67 was set by the 2019 Mariners.

As always, we await developments.
