Momentum, though, as you know, is only as good as your next day’s starting pitcher.
Here’s everything you need to know for today’s LCS game.
Dodgers vs. Braves, 7:08 p.m. CT. Braves lead series 3-2.
Walker Buehler, RHP vs. Ian Anderson, RHP
Max Scherzer was supposed to start this game, but was scratched with “arm fatigue.” This means, most likely, that using him on two days’ rest to close Game 5 of the division series against the Giants, then starting him on two days’ rest in Game 2 of the NLCS, was a mistake. 202 pitches in a seven-day span is... a lot. That was confirmed by Dave Roberts this afternoon:
Roberts said the cost of using Scherzer in relief for 13 pitches in Game 5 has exceeded his expectations. Said he had to trust the player who felt it would be ok. “Could I have foreseen where we are now? No. But you still have to make the decision to get to this point.”

Meanwhile, Walker Buehler will now start this game on three days’ rest. His other start in this series — Game 3 — did not go well.
The lineups were posted early today for this game, so here you go:
