Cubs vs. Brewers at Mesa preview, Friday 3/12, 2:05 CT

New, 13 comments

It’s a chilly day in Arizona, but they’ll play baseball in Mesa anyway.

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

The weather forecast for this afternoon isn’t great, but they might have enough of a “window” to get this one in.

Even if that happens, it will be chilly and raw with temperatures in the 50s. I’m going to sit this one out and watch on Marquee, as I have not seen a Marquee-televised game so far this spring.

Here are today’s particulars.

Cubs lineup:

Happ CF, Baez SS, Pederson LF, Bryant 3B, Heyward RF, Bote 2B, Sogard DH, Duffy 1B, Higgins C

Brewers lineup:

Wong 2B, Hiura 1B, Yelich LF, Vogelbach DH, Shaw 3B, Narvaez C, Arcia SS, Fisher RF, Taylor CF

The Brewers bring a lot of their regulars including our old pal Dan Vogelbach.

Jake Arrieta will start for the Cubs this afternoon. Other Cubs pitchers today: Joe Biagini, Juan Gámez, Jake Jewell, Craig Kimbrel and Keegan Thompson.

Brandon Woodruff will start for the Brewers. Other Milwaukee pitchers today: J.P. Feyereisen, Eric Yardley, Phil Bickford and Thomas Jankins.

Today’s game is on Marquee Sports Network. Here’s a list of providers currently carrying Marquee.

Pat Hughes will call the game for Marquee. It will be rebroadcast on MLB Network at 7 a.m. CT on Saturday.

MLB.com Gameday

Please note that during spring training, Gameday doesn’t usually go pitch-by-pitch as it does during the regular season — usually, it will update after each at-bat.

Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.

Please visit our SB Nation Brewers site Brew Crew Ball. If you do go there to interact with Brewers fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.

For spring-training games, we’ll have a first-pitch thread at five minutes to game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time (because I know how you all like overflow threads!). For today, that will be 2 p.m. CT and 3:30 p.m. CT.

These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked ”Chicago Cubs Game Threads” at the bottom of the front page. There will also be a StoryStream on the front page with all the game thread links, as well as the recap after the game is over. The pitcher photos and regular-season stats will return on Opening Day.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
