Cubs vs. Angels at Mesa preview, Sunday 3/14, 3:05 CT

The sun has returned to the Phoenix area.

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

A reminder to move your clocks forward an hour, if you haven’t already (unless you’re in Arizona or Hawaii!). This means that afternoon games the rest of the spring will generally start at 3 p.m. Chicago time instead of 2 p.m.

Today, the “flip the inning” rule is no longer in effect, the three-batter minimum for pitchers IS in effect, and games can go seven, eight or nine innings for the rest of the spring.

Today’s game will be eight innings.

Here are today’s particulars.

Cubs lineup:

Happ CF, Pederson LF, Bryant 3B, Rizzo 1B, Baez SS, Heyward RF, Bote 2B, Hoerner DH, Higgins C

Angels lineup:

Fletcher 2B, Trout CF, Walsh 1B, Rendon 3B, Upton LF, Pujols DH, Fowler RF, Stassi C, Iglesias SS

Hey look! It’s our old buddy Dexter Fowler starting for the Angels today.

Trevor Williams will start for the Cubs this afternoon. Other Cubs pitchers today: Jason Adam, Rex Brothers, Andrew Chafin, Trevor Megill, James Norwood and Brandon Workman.

Dylan Bundy will start for the Angels. Other L.A. pitchers today: Raisel Iglesias, Felix Pena, Ty Buttrey, Mike Mayers and Kyle Keller.

Today’s game is on Marquee Sports Network. Here’s a list of providers currently carrying Marquee. The game will also be on 670 The Score. Pat Hughes will have the call on TV and Zach Zaidman will be on radio.

The game will be rebroadcast on MLB Network tonight at 11 p.m. CT.

MLB.com Gameday

Please note that during spring training, Gameday doesn’t usually go pitch-by-pitch as it does during the regular season — usually, it will update after each at-bat.

Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.

Please visit our SB Nation Angels site Halos Heaven. If you do go there to interact with Angels fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.

For spring training games, we’ll have a first-pitch thread at five minutes to game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time (because I know how you all like overflow threads!). For today, that will be 3 p.m. CT and 4:30 p.m. CT.

These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked ”Chicago Cubs Game Threads” at the bottom of the front page. There will also be a StoryStream on the front page with all the game thread links, as well as the recap after the game is over. The pitcher photos and regular-season stats will return on Opening Day.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
