Looking past today, Shelby Miller will start Saturday vs. the Brewers. And if you’ve been wondering about Jake Arrieta:

That’s an away game against the Diamondbacks. It probably sets Kyle Hendricks up for starting Monday’s home game at Sloan Park vs. the Rangers.

Don’t have a lot more to say about today’s game, so I’ll stick to the basics. As usual, nothing’s been specifically announced, but per Indians beat writer Mandy Bell, this game will go seven innings.

Here are today’s particulars.

Cubs lineup:

Rizzo 1B, Contreras C, Pederson DH, Bryant 3B, Baez SS, Heyward RF, Maybin LF, Hoerner 2B, Davis CF

Brennen Davis gets his first spring start.

Indians lineup:

A. Rosario SS, Hernandez 2B, Ramirez 3B, E. Rosario LF, Reyes DH, Perez C, Bradley 1B, Zimmer CF, Johnson RF

Alec Mills will start for the Cubs this afternoon. Other Cubs pitchers today: Jonathan Holder, Jake Jewell, Craig Kimbrel, Brendon Little, Dillon Maples and Dan Winkler. It’ll be the spring 2021 debut for Kimbrel.

Triston McKenzie will start for the Indians. Other Cleveland pitchers today: Cal Quantrill, Sam Hentges, Emmanuel Clase, Trevor Stephan, and Anthony Gose.

If Gose’s name sounds familiar, he was a MLB outfielder with the Tigers and Blue Jays fro 2012-16. He converted to pitching in 2017, had a pretty good year in Cleveland’s system in 2019 and was lights-out in winter ball this offseason.

Today’s game is on Marquee Sports Network. Here’s a list of providers currently carrying Marquee.

MLB.com Gameday

Please note that during spring training, Gameday doesn’t usually go pitch-by-pitch as it does during the regular season — usually, it will update after each at-bat.

Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.

Please visit our SB Nation Indians site Let’s Go Tribe. If you do go there to interact with Indians fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.

For spring-training games, we’ll have a first-pitch thread at five minutes to game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time (because I know how you all like overflow threads!). For today, that will be 2 p.m. CT and 3:30 p.m. CT.

These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked ”Chicago Cubs Game Threads” at the bottom of the front page. There will also be a StoryStream on the front page with all the game thread links, as well as the recap after the game is over. The pitcher photos and regular-season stats will return on Opening Day.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
