Cubs vs. Brewers at Phoenix preview, Saturday 3/6, 2:10 CT

The Cubs head to the west side of the Phoenix area to face Milwaukee.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Earlier today I posted this article about communicating the number of innings that are going to be played in spring games this year. Many teams are doing a good job of this. The Cubs aren’t. They should.

Onward.

Here are today’s particulars.

Cubs lineup:

Happ CF, Pederson LF, Bote 2B, Maybin DH, Romine C, Ortega RF, Vargas SS, Wisdom 1B, Giambrone 3B

No Javy Baez, but he was unlikely to play two days in a row this early in spring anyway. And, it appears he’s fine today:

Brewers lineup:

Wong 2B, Hiura 1B, Yelich LF, Garcia RF, Shaw DH, Arcia 3B, Narvaez C, Robertson SS, Taylor CF

Meanwhile, the Brewers start many of their regulars.

Shelby Miller will start for the Cubs this afternoon. Other Cubs pitchers today: Gray Fenter, Juan Gámez, Tyson Miller, Tommy Nance, James Norwood and Keegan Thompson.

Of those, only Norwood has any real chance of making the Opening Day roster.

Brett Anderson will start for the Brewers. Other Milwaukee pitchers today: Josh Lindblom, Miguel Sánchez, Zack Brown and Thomas Jankins.

Today’s game is on FSN Wisconsin with the Brewers announcers, including their excellent regular PBP guy, Brian Anderson.

MLB.com Gameday

Please note that during spring training, Gameday doesn’t usually go pitch-by-pitch as it does during the regular season — usually, it will update after each at-bat.

Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.

Please visit our SB Nation Brewers site Brew Crew Ball. If you do go there to interact with Brewers fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.

For spring-training games, we’ll have a first-pitch thread at five minutes to game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time (because I know how you all like overflow threads!). For today, that will be 2:05 p.m. CT and 3:30 p.m. CT.

These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked ”Chicago Cubs Game Threads” at the bottom of the front page. There will also be a StoryStream on the front page with all the game thread links, as well as the recap after the game is over. The pitcher photos and regular-season stats will return on Opening Day.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
