Jake Arrieta had a cut on his right thumb, officially termed an “abrasion,” during his last start against the Reds on April 30. The start did not go well and Jake was placed on the injured list.
Nico Hoerner was involved in a collision with Ian Happ two days after that in Cincinnati. (Is that place dangerous?)
Both players were activated from the injured list for Friday’s game against the Tigers at Comerica Park. Arrieta will get the start, his first in two weeks.
Here are the rest of the details:

It seems likely that Nico will be back in the starting lineup tonight, somewhere, perhaps center field while Kris Bryant plays left field. That would leave the DH spot open for Joc Pederson or David Bote.
No 40-man roster spots were needed for these moves, so the 40-man stays the same for now.
There’s no lineup announced yet for tonight’s game against the Tigers, but it should be along soon.
