Remember Jake Arrieta's last start? When he said he had some sort of cut on his hand which made his grip difficult?
Well, now he's going to miss at least one start.
And the collision Sunday between Ian Happ and Nico Hoerner? Happ left the game, but it appears Nico got the worst of it.
Today, the Cubs have placed infielder Nico Hoerner (left forearm strain) and right-handed pitchers Jake Arrieta (right thumb abrasion, retroactive to May 3) and Dan Winkler (right triceps tendinitis, retroactive to May 3) on the 10-day injured list. The team has recalled left-handed pitcher Kyle Ryan and right-handed pitcher Keegan Thompson, and selected infielder Ildemaro Vargas, from Triple-A Iowa.
Vargas will be in today's lineup against Clayton Kershaw, and there's at least one suggestion that Thompson might start Game 2:
Keegan Thompson is one candidate to start Game 2 for the @Cubs today, as he can rejoin the active roster under @MLB doubleheader rules. @MLBNetwork

Adbert Alzolay would be going on normal rest for Game 2, but he might be held back for tomorrow to replace Arrieta, and Game 2 would become a bullpen game.
As always, we await developments. Today's game preview will post at 11:45 am CT.
