Trevor Megill had... a really bad outing in Monday’s game.
And so, he is headed back to Triple-A Iowa. Tommy Nance, who Megill had replaced on the roster Monday, is returning... because Ryan Tepera is headed to the injured list with a calf strain.
In addition, the Cubs added lefthander Adam Morgan to the active roster from Triple-A Iowa, where he had posted a 2.20 ERA and 0.796 WHIP in 15 appearances covering 16⅓ innings. In those appearances he had walked only three and struck out 21.
To make room on the 40-man roster for Morgan, Matt Duffy was moved to the 60-day injured list. Duffy has been out since May 22, so this is just a procedural move. It does mean that Duffy can’t return until late July.
You might remember Morgan as a Phillies reliever for several seasons. He’s the guy who served up this walkoff grand slam to Jason Heyward in 2018 [VIDEO].
Here’s a summary of all the moves noted above:
Cubs roster moves:

-Megill optioned
-LHP Adam Morgan selected
-Duffy to 60-day IL
-Tepera to IL with L calf strain
-Nance recalled
Nance, who threw 44 pitches Sunday, might not be available for tonight’s game but certainly will be for tomorrow’s. Morgan last pitched June 25, throwing just 11 pitches, so he should be available.
As always, we continue to monitor developments.
