Greg Deichmann, an outfielder, was acquired by the, along with pitcher Daniel Palencia, from the Athletics last month in the deal that sent Andrew Chafin to Oakland.
Now, Deichmann is coming to the big leagues for the first time:
Greg Deichmann, who was a late scratch from last night's game, is being called up to Chicago. Deichmann confirmed the news on his Instagram story.

Deichmann was the A's second round pick in 2017 and combined between Triple-A Iowa and Oakland's Triple-A club in Las Vegas, he is hitting. 291/.425/.439 this year with 16 doubles, three triples and four home runs. He got attention when he hit eight home runs in 23 games in the Arizona Fall League in 2019. Hopefully that power can return.
There's no official confirmation from the Cubs and no word on a corresponding roster move yet. When there's more information this post will be updated. I'd expect Deichmann to be in today's starting lineup, which also had not been announced at the time of this post.
Welcome to the big leagues, Greg!
UPDATE... Here's the corresponding roster move:
Jason Heyward goes on 10-day IL with index finger inflammation.
