Cub Tracks’ son of non-tender is the night

Welcome to today’s episode of Cub Tracks news and notes™, a greatest-hits collection of Chicago-style beat writers and bloggers, ground from #Cubs, #MiLB, and #MLB baseball, overheated, steeped in writers’ tears, and then cold-brewed overnight for maximum flavor.

On the front page, Andy Green wasn’t fired, but he still has a new position. Oh, the intrigue! Wow fun. In any event, Green’s now a Met. Neat.

Also, Johnny Washington news. And MLB.com has kindly provided a full list of non-tendered players. Patrick Wisdom is making $2.725 million in 2024 according to Jesse Rogers, and Jordan Bastian.

Adbert Alzolay, Mark Leiter Jr., Nick Madrigal, Julian Merryweather, Justin Steele and Mike Tauchman have already been tendered contracts. A couple of those guys had me fence-sitting, too.

Christopher Morel has also been playing left field in the DSL {$}. The mention is near the bottom of the interesting article.

• Jeff Fletcher (The Orange County Register*): Angels add hitting coach Johnny Washington. “The Long Beach native had been the Chicago Cubs’ assistant hitting coach for the past two seasons.”
