Welcome to today’s episode of Cub Tracks news and notes™, a greatest-hits collection of Chicago-style beat writers and bloggers, ground from #Cubs, #MiLB, and #MLB baseball, overheated, steeped in writers’ tears, and then cold-brewed overnight for maximum flavor.

Bob Marley came to me in a dream. “Yah, mon. I and I, we worried abut you. You way too hard on dem suits. Why should you care? It ain’t your money. It ain’t even your laundry.”

He handed me a spliff the size of a White Owl cigar.

“Take some of this, mon, you feel bettah. Later I and I send you some ghosts and you can consider at length the error of your ways.”

“Can’t we skip that part?” I asked. “I’m sorry. Truly I am.”

“Oh no, mon,” he said, drifting off in a cloud. “We have to build the whole arc. You got to go back to the beginning.”

“What if I don’t want to be redeemed like S&H stamps smelling of sachet?”

“Don’t shoot the deputy,” he said.

“I’m Scrooged either way.”

Continued on next rock.
