Welcome to today’s episode of Cub Tracks news and notes™, a greatest-hits collection of Chicago-style beat writers and bloggers, ground from #Cubs, #MiLB, and #MLB baseball, overheated, steeped in writers’ tears, and then cold-brewed overnight for maximum flavor.

Maybe they’re not winning the offseason. But that’s not the idea, is it? The idea is to win in the regular season and the playoffs, and on and off the field.

Soon we hope to have pictures of players in this space. C’mon, Jed!

Shohei Ohtani looks like he’s headed to the Great White North. Of course the Yankees made a splash. They always do — they’re the Yankees. Ohtani will need to add an extra 25% to his Canadian contract to equal US dollars. Just saying — the Canadian dollar is 73.5 cents or thereabouts right now on the international exchange.

But where IS Shohei? Is he staying at Robert Herjavec’s house? Morosi is sorry.

Tyler O’Neill won’t be bothering us so much any more. He’s off to Boston.
