Welcome to today’s episode of Cub Tracks news and notes™, a greatest-hits collection of Chicago-style beat writers and bloggers, ground from #Cubs, #MiLB, and #MLB baseball, overheated, steeped in writers’ tears, and then cold-brewed overnight for maximum flavor.

Nothing yet but reportage seems to indicate ripples deep in the pool. The Cubs at least need to swim out past the Colten Brewers of the world. They have a full coaching staff — now let’s see them fill out the squad.

The Bellinger numbers, if you believe the reports, are starting to emerge. The length of the deal is likely the sticking point and the Cubs might need to bump the AAV considerably to defray that. KB’s Colorado contract is seen as a model. Will Joc Pederson help?

Forbes says the market might last until springtime. We need an FA clock.

Negativism is rife. I am officially dubious.
