Are you having a bit of déjà vu?

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- This time, I did the right thing. With radars lighting up in all kinds of shades of green and yellow and orange and red, heading right toward Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, I decided to wait and see before heading to the ballpark.

It was the right decision:

Tonight's game cancelled. Cubs shutout 2x today by rain.

So, two full teams' worth of spring-training Cubs did not get to play Saturday, though it was reported earlier that Travis Wood got his two innings' worth of work in over at the Cubs' complex in Mesa. For Edwin Jackson, that will have to wait for another day.

It's too bad, because I was kind of looking forward to seeing Kris Bryant in his first spring start. Mike Olt and Jorge Soler were also scheduled to play in this game; they, too, will have to wait for further spring games to get their work in.

Fortunately, this appears to be it for bad weather in the Valley of the Sun for at least a week; the sun should return for Sunday afternoon's scheduled Cubs/Royals contest at Cubs Park, and temperatures are supposed to warm back into the 80s by the end of the week.

Feel free to use this thread as a game thread for the Blackhawks game. I'm headed over to the TV to watch that right now myself. Enjoy!

The Cubs were supposed to play two games today. Instead, they'll have just one, once again, weather permitting.

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- Okay, let's try this again.

The Cubs will attempt to get one of their two scheduled games today in, this time against the Diamondbacks at Talking Stick, the fine new complex the D'backs share with the Rockies. Scattered storms are still in the forecast and this afternoon's Brewers/D'backs game at Talking Stick was delayed by rain and was ended after five innings, around 3:30 AZ time, when it started raining again.

If you had tickets for the day game in Mesa, here's what the Cubs sent out this afternoon after the rainout:

Due to the weather, we have cancelled today’s game against the San Francisco Giants. Please read the Chicago Cubs rain check policy below and visit the ticket office, located near the 1st base gate during any game day or from Monday – Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. For Spring Training season ticket holders we have three options available for the rain check policy. Holders can exchange tickets for another game, apply a credit towards the 2015 season, or a refund for the tickets issued to today’s game. For a refund or a credit, you will have to be the original owner of the season ticket account. Thank you for your patience and see you back at Cubs Park tomorrow, Sunday March 2, at 1:05 p.m.

Thanks to the Cubs for giving multiple options to spring-training season-ticket holders.

If this game is played as scheduled, I'll post the recap in the morning. Or, maybe there will be a second rainout recap in one day! I'm going ahead and posting this on schedule, but rain is entering the area at posting time and things don't look promising.

Cubs lineup:

Bonifacio 2B, Lake CF, Castro SS, Roberts 1B, Bryant 3B, Soler RF, Olt DH, Coghlan LF, Whiteside C

Diamondbacks lineup:

Gregorius SS, Pollock CF, Parra RF, Prado 2B, Jacobs 1B, Tuiasosopo 3B, Duncan DH, Marte LF, Blanco C

Hey, look! Our old pal Henry Blanco will start at catcher tonight for Arizona.

Edwin Jackson gets tonight's start for the Cubs. Following Jackson will be Carlos Villanueva, Dallas Beeler, Neil Ramirez, Brian Schlitter and Armando Rivero.

Jackson will face the D'backs' top pitching prospect, Archie Bradley. Also scheduled for Arizona: Addison Reed, Brad Ziegler, Willy Paredes, Chase Anderson.

Tonight's game is on cubs.com with Len Kasper and Mick Gillispie.

MLB.com Gameday

Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.

For spring-training games, we'll have a first-pitch thread at game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time (because I know how you all like overflow threads!). For tonight's game, that will be 8 p.m. CT and 9:30 p.m. CT. These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked "Chicago Cubs Game Threads" at the bottom of the front page. They will also appear in this StoryStream™. The pitcher box and regular-season stats will return on Opening Day.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
